Understanding Your DriveLens Heatmap

Your DriveLens heatmap is a map of your own driving history, color-coded so you can see at a glance which zones have actually paid off for you and which ones haven't. It's not a prediction, and it's not built from other drivers' data. It's a picture of what's already happened to you, specifically.

What it's built from

Every accepted offer DriveLens scores has a pickup location and, once the trip completes, a dropoff location. The heatmap groups those into zones (bucketed by geohash precision, not exact addresses) and colors each one by whatever metric you're viewing, with $/mi as the default. Because it's built entirely from your own ride history, it only gets more useful the more you drive with DriveLens turned on.

This data is generated and stored on your device. It's derived from your ride history the same way your ride history is, so its privacy handling follows the same rules. See why DriveLens stores your driving data locally for the full picture.

Reading the colors

The legend runs from green (your strongest zones by the selected metric) through yellow to red (your weakest), with gray marking zones you don't have enough data on yet to say anything about. There's no universal "good" zone: the map is calibrated to your own numbers, so what's green for you is whatever's actually worked out for you.

Pickup vs. dropoff

Pickup zones tell you where offers worth accepting tend to originate. Dropoff intelligence is the other half: it tracks idle time and dead miles after you drop a rider off, which is what actually determines whether a dropoff leaves you somewhere you can immediately pick up another good ride, or somewhere you'll sit and burn time getting back into position.

A zone can look great on pickup data alone and still be a net loss if every dropoff nearby strands you. Looking at both together is the point.

Filtering it down

Your driving patterns aren't the same at 8am as they are at 11pm, and a zone that's strong on a Tuesday afternoon might be dead on a Saturday night. Advanced heatmap filters let you narrow the view by day, time window, and minimum sample size, so you're not averaging your Friday rush-hour numbers together with your slow Sunday mornings.

Availability

The heatmap, dropoff intelligence, and the filters on top of them are Pro features, built on the same ride-level detail capture that live offer scoring uses. The Free tier's basic analytics (totals, average $/hr, average $/mi) don't include the map view.

Putting it to use

The practical use is simple: during the hours you typically drive, favor positioning yourself in your green zones over your red ones, and treat a dropoff in a historically dead zone as a signal to reposition rather than sit and wait. It won't tell you what's about to happen, only what already has, for you, specifically. Often that's the more useful thing to know.
